Heritage Lace, the very name evokes feelings of patriotism, family home and hearth. These European inspired reproductions along with new designs, harken to the past, nature, and yet mesh with todays lifestyle. Heritage Lace has a soft feminine look in both table top, and curtains.
This Heritable Lace table cloth lace collection was inspired by lace found in many Victorian homes at the turn of the century and constructed today of luxurious durable fabrics to enhance the antique look and feel of your home. The timeless textile that is "lace", has long been part of our treasured moments as simple as giving gifts.
Lace making goes back into 15th and early 16th centuries when a thread is loped, twisted or braided to other threads independently from a backing fabric. When first invented, linen, silver or gold threads were used to make lace. Versatile lace lends its endearing beauty and enduring quality to home fashions as well.
Used as window dressing table decoration or wall decor, lace can create or complement looks as diverse as clean and classic, traditional and vintage. Today, manufactured lace and handmade lace is made from synthetic fiber or cotton thread portraying the same elegant beauty of ancient times.
Heritage Lace is a leader since 1983 in upholding the timeless tradition of lace, Heritage is committed to supplying products which reflect your unique personality and help you create an inviting home environment. Most of Heritage Lace table clothes and table top lace is machine made, however there are several terms that refer to how lace is made that might be helpful.
- Knitted lace is so fine that it can be pulled through a wedding ring.
- Needle lace is made by using a needle and thread plus it's very flexible. The finest antique needle laces were made from fine thread that is not even around today.
- Crocheted lace is characterized by separately crocheted motifs which are assembled into a mesh background.
- Cutwork lace is constructed by removing threads from a woven background and the remaining thread wrapped or filled with embroidery.
- Knotted lace is made with a shuttle or a tatting needle.
- Bobbin lace is made with bobbins and a pillow. The bobbins turned from wood or plastic hold threads which are woven together and held in place with pins.
- Tape lace makes the tape in the lace and it is worked or uses a machine or hand made textile strip formed into the design. It is then joined and embellished with needle or bobbin lace.
