Treehugger.com Announces Bamboo Sheets Keep Germs Out of Bed

According to a recent article on www.treehugger.com, Bamboo sheets are exploding on the market, especially for consumers worried about bacteria and fungus commonly found in bedding.

Writer Lloyd Alter reports that bamboo's natural antibacterial properties come from an antifungal, antibacterial agent present in the fibers commonly referred to as bamboo kun. Due to the agent, pesticides are not necessary when growing bamboo, as pests and pathogens are rarely an issue with the plant. In fact, further studies by the Japan Textile Inspection Association (JTIA) found that even after 50 industrial washings, bamboo fabric still had a 70% antibacterial kill rate.
