Paint your Appliances ...I DID!!!
I have a husband that believes that if it isn't broke, don't replace it. My refrigerator is a great brand. It is now 25 years old. It still runs as if it were brand new, but the color just was not appealing. Remember that old egg shell color? That's the color! I was so embarrassed when guest came to visit. I always had excuses about how my husband would not let me purchase a new refrigerator.
The colors of black, and stainless, are the new kitchen colors. Even new chic colors of red, and purple are coming vogue in the new metropolitan kitchens. So who says a dish washer or refrigerator has to be white? Painting appliances is easier than you think. Just follow these basic steps.
Clean the appliance to remove any traces of grease, finger prints, or dirt. Sand paper may be needed if you have rust spots. Using masking tape, mask off the appliance parts that you do not want to paint. Protect the floor with a drop cloth or newspaper. Using a roller or spray, paint appliance with metal primer. When the paint is dry, apply a coat of solvent based paint of your chosen color, using a roller or an aerosol. Remove the masking tape when the pain is dry and allow a day for paint to dry hard. You can paint designs on top of your solvent based paint or just leave as is.
My dull egg shell fridge with rust spots became a new looking state of the art fridge! It looks so good that I painted my rusty freezer. No more hiding those rust spots with refrigerator magnets. I am now proud of new looking black fridge. Wonder if they make stainless steel paint?
* I personally prefer rolling on my paint instead of spraying in my home. The paint fumes in the kitchen just don't mix, however feel free to spray to your hearts desire if your appliance is moved outdoors.
