Pictures and Art Hanging made easy!
Have your walls been left bare because you are afraid your wall hangings want be hung proper. Read these helpful tips and you will be on your way to beautiful decorated walls.
To start, measure the top of the frame you want to hang to the top of the hangers on the back side of your frame. If wire is used, then measure down the center of the back of the frame to the top edge of the pulled wire. This will determine the distance from the top of the frame to where the hanger will need to be. Measure both sides to make sure the hangers are level. Measure the width between hangers. Divide the width by 2 to get the center point of your art. You must now find the center point of the wall that is, if you want to hang your art in the center. You would treat your wall the same as your art by measuring the width of the wall and divide it by 2. If you want to hang your art in the center of a piece of furniture, measure the furniture and then divide the width by 2. To find the horizontal placement, measure from the top of the center of furniture or if you want to use a bare wall measure to wherever you want the top of the frame to be. This measurement is up to you, and is based on whatever looks most pleasing. Do not just pick a number, Check the measurement to be sure the distance looks good to you. Measure the frame to determine the distance from the bottom edge to the top of the hangers. Measure each side. (some hangers are not level) Add the measurements together to get the distance you hangers need to be from the top of the furniture you are hanging it over, or from the floor. From the center point of the furniture that you want to hang your art, measure up this distance and mark that point with a pencil. This will serve as your horizontal point. You will get your vertical point, by measuring from one edge of the furniture or wall and add that to the center measurement of the furniture. Add that measurement to the center point measurement. In the area of your horizontal center point, measure out from the corner along the wall your center point measurement and make another pencil mark. This mark will represent your vertical center. Measure half of the distance between hangers on each side of the center point. Make a small pencil mark on each side of your vertical center point. Place a level with the bottom edge touching the vertical center point. Find your marks and draw a small horizontal line with your pencil against the level. Do the same vertically. This area should be mark now with a small cross. This will be the area that you will place your hanger. Drive your hanger into the center of the cross. If you are using a hook, the bottom of the hook should be where the lines cross. You may now place your painting in the center eyeballing it, just to make sure this is where you want it before hanging your art. You may also trace your art on news paper cut it out and tape it on your wall before driving your hanger into the wall.
If everything looks good to you, then its ready to place your hanger. Tap the hanger with a hammer. If you have a wood surface, it may require drilling a hole to get started. Use a small nail first, otherwise the hole may be too big to hold the nail and the hanger. Now that your hangers you are ready to hang your art. Slightly hold the loops out from behind your frame and loop it over the hanger on the wall. If you have two loops, hang one at a time.
